"Moving in Being"
Feldenkrais/Gurdjieff mix - with Nikhila and Vasanti
Tuesday 31 August - Saturday 4 September
2010 in Corfu, Greece
This workshop, at short notice, replaces the previously
advertised "Move4Life!" and will be co-facilitated by Vasanti, who is
italian, lives in Corfu, and is a teacher of Gurdjieff Sacred
Movements. She is also our host at Corfu Buddha Hall.
We
met again after many years when I visited Corfu last summer, before
that we were students of Tai Chi and colleagues in the School for Zen
Centring and Martial Arts at the Osho International Meditation Resort
in Pune India in the 90's.
I am very excited and inspired by the idea of offering this workshop
together. The potential benefit of the combination of
some of the work of two great masters, taught in our unique ways,
I feel is enormous.
Vasanti says
'The Gurdjieff Sacred Dances consist of very defined and generally
unusual movements.
The movements do not require special body skill or training, or
previous experience, but rather the presence of the dancer. In
fact they are a training into simply being present in the moment, in
full acceptance of oneself, playful, and relaxed.
They bring harmony into our physical, emotional, and intellectual
center.
While learning and practicing these dances, we have glimpses of a
wider, livelier and more delicious reality.'

Everyone has their own unique way of moving and
being in the body - habitual movement patterns are often the cause of
difficulty or even pain in movement - and often, parallel habitual
thought patterns as well. The gentle, guided movement sequences
of the Feldenkrais Method allow you to explore, and tap into, realms of
wisdom in your body/mind, and deepen the connection from 'yourself' to
yourself. There is such joy available in discovering the truth of
oneself inside oneself through the simple medium of movement.
